Contratian thought: yes Bitcoin is decentralised, but that might not be enough to survive "getting off a ___ standard for war".

During times of war, the government is a propaganda machine for sure. They will sweet talk you. You may not trust the government, but many do.

So we all have our Bitcoin and we all custody it, but how many of us truly understand why we custody it?

The government sweet talks us, says, yes, the bitcoin was good, but we need to use govcoin because reasons and everyone should go trade it in now.

Also businesses must start accepting govcoin by mandate and there will be taxes for using the bitcoin for altruistic reasons of course.

It for sure can't destroy Bitcoin, but I don't see why bitcoin cannot go through a similar journey to Gold.

because they would have to take it from us as long as we self custody

although theyd definitely bribe us, but theyd have to be more creative

Getting creative is what they do best. Eg. they don't outright ban cigarettes and foods they want us to avoid, they tax them. They initiated the war on drugs, they are well experienced.

True, and itll almost certainly work. But only until the people finally learn about why they even need a sound money to begin with, certainly feels like itll be an undeniable reality for people soon

Absolutely. Nothing stopping a gov from “suspending the Bitcoin standard” in times of “crisis” when funds are “needed”. What makes Bitcoin so immune?

Hopefully the associated mind reset that accompanies bitcoin.

Anyone who really dives into and gets Bitcoin begins to understand what being sovereign means, what not being sovereign has created, and this mind reset has the potential to create a culture of people pushing back more than when we got off the gold standard.

🤞

Nah. That’s not at all what I hear from the NGU crowd. These are the peeps driving politicians for Bitcoin reserve. If we get a Bitcoin standard, it will not be because of a “now I love being sovereign” cultural shift. Mainstream cares more about paying less and having more, than about sovereignty. Govt and central power will “always” have the reigns, as long as they control the profit margin.
