Everything in this reality is fake, gay, and degenerate. PKD nailed it in this book
He sure did... This is my first PKD book, and I'm noticing he has an ability to use totally different writing styles for different characters. It actually feels different, in this chapter, in this guy's head, then the previous chapter. Also incredibly prescient - this was published in 1969. Or maybe 68. Whstevs
i'm too handy with tools to be blocked by this kind of nonsense, or to accept living in such a shithole
like, right now, my bathroom window is a trapdoor design that opens top down and slants backwards into the space in front of my shower
my cat
MY CAT
managed to break the hinge lock on this thing, yes, chinese quality household fittings, and escape outside one time when i was foolishly attempting to teach him hooman toilet
MY CAT was able to break it
imagine what i can do with a butter knife, let alone screwdrivers and hacksaws
Are you letting him go outside?
he's not asking to, i open it up, maybe sometimes he actually gets up and goes and sniffs around outside for a bit and then runs back inside
there seems to be nothing that he wants out there, he's very happy in here
like, if randos walk past on the caminho out the front of my place, he scampers upstairs or seeks a hidey hole around the couch somewhere, if it's raining, or cold, he isn't even slightly interested
as it is i have to make him go out there if it's sunny and i think the sun will do him some good
Ha! Soon after this part, a pretty girl enters the story with the words, "caveat emptor," on her belt, and the protagonist doesn't know what it means. Directly after the door payment problem! Hilarious. I want that on a shirt.
