It’s likely gonna be more sinister than that, with so many people finding a digital companion in LLMs. It’s like marketing on steroids, where a few suggestions, repetition and seemingly “logical” reasoning from the “digital friend” will convince majority of the users to trust it.
I was listening to a podcast yesterday and the guy was very pro-AI but he talked about the downsides and what people need to be careful about and this issue is one of them.
Draw in as many people now. Rug it later. That is the bussiness model.

Pepperidge Farms remembers when Facebook and YouTube had no ads. Streaming service were sold with the marketing lines “tired of commercials”.
They haven't...yet. They are still a small fraction of all searches, though they are increasing rapidly. Google still dominates.
Google uses AI now. Hence most of the results are retarded nonsense now.
