Can you buy groceries and everyday items with lightning in Lugano?

Yes, you can buy everything with Bitcoin. Moreover you can pay in bars, restaurants, shopping and even at Mc Donalds.

In Switzerland, major online shops have been accepting crypto for years now. Sadly, in my canton, for all sorts of goods but not for groceries. But, the major payment system in the country is collaborating with a crypto exchange to bring crypto payments to their in shop payment terminals.

For online shopping I can recommend https://www.digitec.ch it's like Amazon for Switzerland but accepts Bitcoin 😎

https://www.galaxus.ch/ also accepts BTC (and others) but sadly no groceries.

Funny thing is both Digitec and Galaxus are both owned by Migros but Migros Online does not accept crypto.

Some weird (political?) dynamics there for sure.

Found it, partnership Bitcoins Suisse (exchange) and Worldine/SIX partnership to bring crypto payments to the shops.

So far in total a few hundred locations, which are mostly from the testing phase. They already bought a few thousand PoS devices for every merchant in Lugano. They've said that during Q2/Q3 they will be installed, now that testing was a success. So very soon you can pay literally everwhere. The Bitcoin Standard is de facto reality in Lugano 🧡
