That makes sense. I’m never sure which was already a standard bc it seems like every time I gather with friends there’s a party to go to that I’m unfamiliar with. This past weekend, my old roommate had a gathering to give her fiancé’s nieces a present to open with a message asking them to be flower girls for her wedding. I’ve been to a few parties hosted to ask brides maid/groomsmen to be in the wedding. Things seem more elaborate than b4. What do you think?
Discussion
I think toxic social media and influencoors have pushed expectations to the obscene. There’s this pressure to make every little thing some monumental event (so that it looks good on video). If you don’t do it, then you must not care.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of events that I will never attend:
1. Gender-reveal party
2. Engagement party where the couple will become engaged at the party.
3. Birthday (or really any) party for a pet.
