If you dismiss warnings of totalitarianism out of thirst for justice, you become just another pendulum swing. Not a correction toward Liberty and Justice for All.

Violence is probably going to be necessary. But it should not be viewed as justice. It should be viewed as a tragic necessity. Else we resemble those who would destroy us. We have to not only defeat them, but emerge with our humanity and compassion intact.

This is impossible without fighting for something larger than ourselves.

I agree. “Minimum force necessary to neutralize the threats”.

I honestly think most people especially politicians are so soft that a moderate five year sentence for a few dozen ring leaders would completely change all of the elite’s behavior overnight. That is the goal. Deterrence.

Sure, but any movement in the right direction will be called tyranny. It's the playbook they already used against Trump & he did nothing but prevent new wars. These people aren't warning against any legitimate threat of totalitarianism, they ARE totalitarians, they will simply use any rhetoric available to fight any threat to their power.

Dont allow yourself to be defined by their responses.

I'm not, I just don't think there is any politically viable approach to improving things. I think we have to build completely independent infrastructure for basically everything.

I think this is just a wording issue, but violence that isn’t justice is never a necessity. Still tragic, but whether it’s just or not must always be the deciding factor.

To me, the idea that unjust violence can still be necessary is what more closely resembles the tyrannical worldview.
