One option to counteract this is to make sure that the attending performs the surgery.
Most hospitals will flaunt the guy who is “doing” when you first meet him and go over the surgery game plan, when in reality, he’s just overseeing it so a noob can take a stab at it and “correct” the noob.
Always demand the attending perform or walk.
