Self custody as we know it is in the crosshairs in America

If the court precendent stands that self custodial software is not free from the Bank Secrecy Act then all self custody software will fail to meet the requirements...creating a defacto ban on running self custodial bitcoin software.

Wallets, nodes, miners cannot comply with the KYC bullshit. This is an inside job between anti bitcoin politicians and the woke DOJ weilding lawfare when they can't win public support or the ballet box.

We are sleep walking into this.

Meanwhile all these soy think boi corpo simps are shitcoining wall street iou's and wearing orange ties.

An 80 year old judge isn't going to give a shit or understand the nuances between the custodial arguements, the nature of shitposting on twitter or the long term implications.

I fear the same thing. I think Samurai devs are in for many years of legal fighting even if they eventually get out of it. and they will need our support.

And as btc users, we that are holding keys should be prepared for multi-year periods where self-custody is illegal. Don't cave, perservere, keep your stacks private, spend regardless of your gov't (it's what the protocol is all about!)

Yes. I think normie npubs don't have too much individually to be fearful of, however if devs go straight to jail for writing code then the ecosystem is in for a shock.
