This is more a relay issue and not a nostr issue imo, maybe one feature paid relays will offer is that they will let you delete posts, however you couldn’t ever really be sure because you aren’t running the relay yourself

This should be a basic feature, not a paid feature. Every social network lets you delete your own posts . Eventually, relays will grow too large if there is no way to delete old posts

Yeah I wonder about this. Maybe individuals (or even clients) will run personal relays to save all their data forever, and non personal relays will have policies about deleting posts that X days old, and allowing voluntary delete requests.

But at the end of the day, each relay operator will do whatever they want

They just need a way to do it =)

Umbrel already has a personal Nostr relay app for backing up all data on one account.

For public relays, it would be super trivially to delete notes that are X days old.

I think it’s really just incentives at this point

I am curious on why Iris has the delete feature but it does not work

If you follow multiple relays, as long as one of them didn’t delete it, you’d probably still see it

It's there but never Purple and never does anything so I think it's not implemented
