I decided that instead of buying a ski pass this year, I'd buy a snowmobile next year with that Bitcoin.
It's killing me right now.

If you have some disposable income after some % saving goal I would go skiing at least a few days this season.
Personally I mostly stop skiing from 25 to 40 but went hard on water sports. Now that my kids are getting in the 4+ range I take them skiing and in the summer we go boating. Would have much larger stack if we didnāt but we have only one life and kids only 1 child hood.
Though I understand the fomo
Dont buy a pass, and dont buy a snowmobile save the bitcoin andā¦spend a few sats on a AT setup and an avalanche course and then hit the backcountryā·ļø
I miss my mountain sports days. Ripping first tracks midweek while the rest of the world inched along the highway to get downtown to their jobs. My budget for annual passes and weekends away got traded for essentials when I started a family and budget priorities changed.
But man, if thereās one thing Iāve learned about acquiring toys, the idea of having a thing is usually way cooler than the reality of having the thing.
Go hit the slopes hard, you never know when life will take you away from them.
Another possession to store and maintain, to get a few months a year of enjoyment out of, hasnāt been worth it in my experience. Plus thereās the whole āgear begets gearā thing. Youāre not just buying a sled. Youāre buying a trailer, hitch kit, outerwear, a second sled so you have someone to ride with, specific tools and replacement wear parts, etc. Especially on todayās machines.
Unless youāre getting a sled that has some real utility value around the farm or homestead, itāll just be another āthingā.
Go for the pow āļø
finding the level of skiing I need near me requires a ton of driving, but high quality snowmobiling terrain is all around.
I really want to try snowmobiling, Iāve never been
Combine them. Use snowmobile to get up, skis to go down. Just need a kid to take the snowmobile down.
everyone I know who buys a snowmobile to do this just turns into a snowmobilier
True. It's fun, but you need others to do it. Did it a lot as a kid. Now it's lot harder to arrange, but still every year.
Snowmobiling you just hop on and go. No need for others and not that weather dependent. Don't need powder...that much.
Lmk if you make it up this season. I can get you a free pass with advanced notice ā·ļø
