At first I was against adding “likes” to my Nostr social app in favor of zaps only because they are literally so easy and one click. However, I think I was wrong. Ppl still seem to want to “like” posts and do not send “zaps” as often as they would a “like”

Did nick zsabo mention something like this a long time ago about micro payments never working due to human psychology?

I’m starting to think he’s a right. This is not a bearish post, just what I am thinking at the moment

u also need reaction for zapplepay

What’s zapple pay? Happy to add reactions in if it means there’s some roundabout way this makes a payment (I don’t make iOS apps just pwa so this wasn’t an issue for me)

https://www.zapplepay.com/

just use it to zap ur post as an example

I see it’s Nostr wallet connect initialized by reaction emoji

Very cool

Is this the merger between like and zap into one thing 😏

yuppp!

zapple pay / reactiob-to-zap is equivalent to how some social media has "gifts" of different value.

btw zapping this post will not change my mind 🤣

one tap zap w nostr wallet connect fixes this

somewhat

it’s still easier to press like than zap

Would you agree?

yes :(

although no significant difference after setup, you still have to set it up first

I think it’s fruitless to just zap random posts, but the ability to zap is important because you can provide value to those that post things you find valuable. The value for value (v4v) model.

Is there much an of energy difference right now between a “like” and a zap of 2 sats?

Both are essentially 0, yet still one is more easy to do than the other

Both are basically zero, but people don’t want to sacrifice sats for something that can be expressed without it. Perhaps it would’ve been the norm had there only been zaps from the beginning.

you're right, it is

conditioned to go for the like button - takes a bit unlearning and self-control to not immediately click it but rather go for the zap
