Nothing is stopping anyone from making their own conference with whatever they are complaining about. But it’s just noise from the cheap seats. That would be like a standup comedian having a different set for each show. It’s not feasible. Bless them for even presenting at all, public speaking is difficult and uncomfortable, I can def respect them for it even if I don’t like them
Education is still very important in btc and there is a ton of information asymmetry left to overcome. These conferences help address this. We really are still early. Not everyone obsesses about BT everyday
Plus it’s not like anything big actually changes like the ops parrot. I gave an hour and a half talk about btc at my last job in tradfi in 2017 and I wouldnt really change much if I gave it again today. If you actually understand what you’re talking about, it ages well
It’s like how the non tech guys that pivot into tech would always parrot “oh tech is always changing, can’t keep up!” But in reality it’s foundationally the same. It’s all 1s and 0s. It’s all servers and databases. Even if the marketing gurus make it seem otherwise. But if you don’t fundamentally understand what you’re talking about, you will fall for these things.
With teaching anything, it’s important to first lay down the foundation first and then build from there. You can’t start as if they are all experts and aware of the minutiae details , it would only confuse them and it would be off putting. The fact that they are still making new talks at all is pretty impressive. I liked mallers talk about btc and time
