This is one of those things that I think actually may violate the rights of others.
I generally disagree but how on earth are you going to control someone else making a meme anyway. If itβs impossible to even police without the person even being involved or knowing that it has even happened, then itβs pretty hard to defend the fact that itβs βa right.β
Now maybe itβs something we would want to have general ethics to not do. Maybe we would want to hold people to a social standard and idsincentivize this and ridicule or socially punish people for it. Thatβs fine and I can understand that position even, but thatβs not βa right.β Thats very different.
I'm not convinced that one should have the right to make someone else appear to be doing or saying something that they aren't. Similar to libel, slander, etc. I'm not saying this can be easily stopped, but I'm leaning toward it being illegal and immoral if it isn't very obviously fake.
