I spared with my coach today and I told him to use 100% strength. At first I thought after half year of frequent training, I could do better meaning last longer before submission. But the result was sub 20 seconds submission, just like my day 1.

My coach told me to not compare myself with him because it’s the same for him to submit anyone with fewer than 2 years of experience. The only difference was that him need to use better technique to submit me today than day 1, but the result was the same. Therefore, compare with how much progress I have made over the months.

This is a perfect analogy to programming and business development as well. Do not compare myself with legendary developers and successful entrepreneurs. Instead, focus on my growth and my users. That’s the only thing that matters.

Very true. I'm a martial arts instructor, but I still get pieced up by people who have more training hours. It never ends, but if you just keep improving week by week, you'll be happy.

humbling. my coach also submitted me today haha
