I talked about this a long time ago, but maybe there should be a spec for recommended tip amounts: like “buy me a coffee”, etc. configurable by the user. Then clients could render tip/gift buttons for these.

Exactly, already supported in lnurl, we just need better ux: actually show min tip amount and prompt user instead of returning an error when you try to fetch an invoice with a lower amount
Bingo. Clients at the very least need to relay display the error message returned from the LNURL server
