Proverbs 4:1-4 NKJV — Hear, my children, the instruction of a father,

And give attention to know understanding; For I give you good doctrine:

Do not forsake my law. When I was my father’s son,

Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother, He also taught me, and said to me:

“Let your heart retain my words;

Keep my commands, and live.

I'm a big sucker for the 1885 Revised Version. While it's not perfect, it does read a little "older."

1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

What do you think?

have a hardbound, but these are from https://kingjames.bible

Beautiful translation.

amen. the NIV and all the newer ones imho are unapproachable, because they basically neuter the meaning of everything. how are you?

My only I’m depth study of translations to original languages was of Luther’s smaller catechism’s proof texts. NKJV was the clear winner. Ignored KJV because it was for the kids. I’m not going to get too hung up on translations when people are starving for the Word, but there are clearly some dietary concerns.
