Katahdin hair sheep are half way done with their first grazing of the pastures at the homestead

The sheep have completed grazing another pasture in 10 days, still moving at a fast pace. There are still a few ewes left waiting to have their lambs but the majority are born now.

The pasture is looking ideal where they are headed so I think the pace will slow down now. Once all the lambs are born we will take the sheep down to the handling system and give them all a check up. Worm the ones that need it, trim hooves, and weigh lambs.

Cheers to another season, grazing pastures, building soil and raising lamb. It's already shaping up to be a great one.

What do you use a dewormer?

We've used ivermectin, and fenbendizole. We are currently using levamisole. Most of the sheep don't need worming and we usually catch any parasite pressure early because we check the sheep every couple weeks.

Thanks, how do you view parasite pressure? That sounds interesting

Thank you!
