I suspect if it reached a point of Nostr as it is now or no social media. People would just be go without and be happy lol. It's like the option of being stopped in the street by a charity person and listening to them or sitting in a park under a tree in silence. Unless there was such a huge influx the drowned out the btc spam, or some other workaround readily available from the off. (Eg a client that started you off on a filtered slogan-free relay or whatever).

99% of Normies would still be on social media even it all they were allowed to post about was photos of their breakfast.

yeah, i'm here because i need a social outlet, such as it is, this is still better than anything else

it's actually the rockstars like will and the other engagement farming cool kids repeating their slogans every day who i don't like here... who I do like is our kangaroo friend here, and that lady who posts photos of her desert surroundings a lot ( nostr:npub1cgcwm56v5hyrrzl5ty4vq4kdud63n5u4czgycdl2r3jshzk55ufqe52ndy ) and the punk af dudes like nostr:npub1f0restzwusrck2k62dq2ueelrrfmdfnyk8uhart8n8nqwn94cwwsppm0sa and nostr:npub1utx00neqgqln72j22kej3ux7803c2k986henvvha4thuwfkper4s7r50e8 - the less repetitive, less slogans, more serious questions, more interesting people in general

it's frustrating for me too because i'm involved in working stuff with nostr, and i'm stuck working on stuff that is right on the margin, and my boss fully understands the potential and it's not for nothing that he wants to keep his spoon in this pot of soup, it is going to go off at some point in the near future, once a critical mass of BUSINESS USE CASE adoption starts, and i'm glad for that because it lets me continue to sharpen up my nostr blades so when that starts, i'll be ready to edward scissorhands it
