Cashless restaurants and bars are peak fiat authoritarianism. Over the weekend, a bartender hesitated to take cash for a beer, saying the place “mostly” operates on cards. They still accept cash but prefer plastic, and apparently struggle to make change.

Government-issued cuckbucks are still legal tender even if they are trash. I should be able to swap a few pieces of paper for a cold pint. The forced cashless approach isn’t convenience. It’s coercion. Freedom means being able to choose how we transact. When the only way to pay is through permissioned rails, you don’t own your money…you are just renting access.

I love how Bitcoin is the big middle finger to all of it. Cash, Cards, etc. Unstoppable,

unconfiscatable, boarderless, permissionless and no gatekeepers. It doesn’t ask permission. It honors the ability to save, spend and transact on your terms. Would I exchange sats for a pint? Yeah, maybe. Maybe not. Maybe GFY.

In a world of plastic obedience and paper IOUs, optionality reins. Fiat or otherwise. Bitcoin doesn’t demand to be used, it’s just waiting for everything else to fail, and for the world to wake up to a better money.

My guess is not a ma and pop type spot, but a corporate restaurant group that probably took a zillion free cuckbucks during covid. The ones that run like a zombie business where the owner hasn’t been there in years and yet squashes all the charming local ma and pop restaurants running on tighter margins.

Fiat games win fiat prizes.

It’s almost like you know the exact spot I’m referring to 😏. A Corporate restaurant with no regard to quality in food or service. What was once a local staple is now a revolving door of shit. Repackaged and rebranded, decimating the quality and culture which made it a great spot to begin with. Fiat ruins everything.
