I know I'm probably not alone on this thought, but all the talk of online age verification from certain tech podcasts is really suss.

It feels like yet another thing wrapped up to control the internet and not as innocuous as a lot of people try to pass it off as

It is no suspicious. It is just outright awful. It is NOT anyone else's responsibility, IMO, to verify who uses the platform and in the case of children, that is the PARENT'S sole responsibility, IMO. Just add it to the list o trash ideas for ushering in digital ID and the social credit system. They aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

Yeah, that's definitely how I feel. There are pretty robust parental controls that restrict kids from having unfettered access to the internet. And it's definitely on the parents to do that and not a corporation with a digital ID.

there is a way of thinking among social conservatives where they don't want to accept personal responsibility for having bad thoughts, or for their children having bad thoughts. they want to be able to blame someone else whenever they think about anything "sinful."

it's extremely similar to how socialist soyboys don't want to be responsible for their own consumer choices or what they do with their own money. if anything goes wrong, they love to point the finger.

Great read, thanks

Same thing with “blood libel” now being thrown around by a bunch of people. Since when is that a common phrase used in the 2020s - oh it’s not, just a bunch of Zionists started using it and others caught on.

So where did it come from?

I have never heard that phrase.
