GOODBYE BONDS!!

Long story here but I would really appreciate feedback and confidence.

Before being introduced to Bitcoin, I only held a “diversified” portfolio including both stocks and bonds. 🫣

Today I finally made the call to my financial “advisor” to flip my bonds into MSTR. I’ve tried in the past to have this conversation but am steered away from doing anything different than what they have been taught to follow. As a woman, it’s really difficult to stand firm to make these bold choices.

I’ve been trying to get him to learn about bitcoin and ETF’s. He wouldn’t have anything to do with it. He told me he doesn’t have knowledge on this and can’t speak on it. At the end of the day it’s my “money” and I need to do what’s best for me even if that isn’t the norm.

I wanted to do this in the summer when MSTR was around $100 USD and now it’s over $400 USD. I have lost out on huge gains which would have been really substantial. I sort of feel like I might have missed the boat on this one and regret not doing this sooner. It’s hard to make these big power play moves alone.

I stood my ground today. When discussing microstrategy, my financial advisor didn’t have a clue what it is! 🤯 He asked me if I knew the code and I recited quickly yes.. MSTR. He looked it up and said okay yes this is available to buy. I encouraged him to research it and said he would be pleasantly surprised to see how it has performed.

I have set things in motion. He is to get back to me quickly as I told him time is of the essence and I don’t want to miss out on more gains.

He of course tried telling me that bonds aren’t going to cause me grief and that it will still help me achieve my long term goals. He talked about the percentage I’ve earned and I said that doesn’t compare anywhere close to where I would be had I bought MSTR sooner. He believes the bonds have performed well but “well” according to who?!

Honestly I wouldn’t say I have a firm understanding on all this but I definitely do not feel secure holding bonds.

I’m actually feeling excited to finally own MSTR. I, of course, have Bitcoin and am never going to stop stacking. The point to all of this is to get rid of those underperforming risky terrible bonds.

What advice and thoughts do you have on bonds or Canadian bonds and microstrategy?

#nostr #MSTR

Sounds like you already know what to do and your financial advisor is holding you back. What’s stopping you for having a self directed account and make your own trades? There is really no need to have someone do it for you. If you can buy bitcoin you can buy your own stocks on self directed brokerage. Coming in now at an ATH is a bit riskier than when you wanted to buy at 100 but it could go a lot higher but it can also come down a lot harder as well. Trust you gut do your own research make your own decisions.

What’s stopping me from having a self directed account and making my own trades is the simple fact that I don’t have a firm grasp on the stock market and the thought of managing it on my own worries me to no end. I’ve heard horror stories and also heard that most treat this as a full time job selling and buying up all hours of the night. I’m not cut out for that personally and know my limitations.

Buying at an ATH is risky for sure but holding bonds could be seen as riskier?

Just dip your toe in to start. Open a self directed account in Canada you could make this a TFSA so your gains aren’t taxable on withdrawal. Put in an amount you are comfortable with maybe 1% of your portfolio to start. Buy MSTR in time add to your position. Bonds are only good to protect downside risk but if you want growth then bonds are definitely holding you back. I don’t own and have never owned bonds. Without knowing about your circumstances it’s hard to say what is riskier to you. Bonds the risk is opportunity cost and risk of MSTR is in end of 2025-2026 we have another bear market and bitcoin corrects 70% there is a lot of downside as MSTR is basically a leveraged bitcoin play. You could argue that this cycle won’t have as big a correction but who knows every other cycle has had a 70%+ decline. But as long as you are comfortable with this and know the longer term potential multiple cycles this might not be a concern. Again hard to say cause this all depends on you which I know nothing about. When I’m doubt good to start small and build up a position rather than just ape in at an near ATH. At the end of the day these are decisions you’ll need to make for yourself.

🫣😬 you’ve given me lots to think about! A 70% decline is frightening!

In 2021 MSTR hit around $103 at its peak and in the bear market trades as low as $14. So this is a real possibility. But is now over $400 so if you had the balls to ride it you’d still be up 4x if you bought at the last peak. Who knows MSTR could go to $1000 then back down to $100-200 within this cycle.

& this is the exact reason why it’s so tough for me to make the call. 🫣
