HOA fees were $350/year when we moved in just 10 years ago. It was a "summer cabin" area, they had just added year-round water in 2010. I purchased our small cabin on 3 acres for $232,000, owner financed for 4 years. It was a dream how it all came together.....

Now, the place next door to me just sold for $1,049,000. 3 "homes" have been recently built with indoor pools. Residents are constantly making demands of the HOA, they did asphalt on the first few miles up the canyon, but are constantly lobbying for more. The HOA never plowed roads, then they plowed 5 miles to the "winter lot". Now that lot is gated and they have more than doubled the plowing to 16 miles, for "safety" completing a loop back to the bottom of the canyon.

They want to asphalt another 11 miles, the loop, again, in the name if safety.

I understand, you wanna drive your Tesla...

I didn't move here for this.

ugh. I just wanted a peaceful, mountain home.....

Hoa = mistake

100% of the time, everytime.

they're mini fiat governments. absolutely horrible

💯 not your keys not your cheese. They are the HOA’s cheese.

HOAs are dangerous. You might consider selling (laugh all the way to the bank) and buy something a bit more remote.

It's hard to just leave land you've invested in like that.

Yeah, it depends on your tolerance level. If you can shrug of the HOA overlords, you’re better than me.

I can't, that's why I don't live under one 🤣🫡

Same

Winning!

You got a lesson in conservatism vs. progressivism.
