Any theories as to how this could form? Feels very different from normal ice🤔

That looks crazy lol

👀 hmm melted amd transformed snow? 🤔 Strange, nature is raw!

We havent had snow at all this year, so cant be that.

Nature shows something new every day for those that keep their eyes open.

Yhea, love it

I think I know this one! I believe it's groundwater that has frozen / expanded out of the earth. Basically growing from the ground as it gets pushed out

Seems you are right. Thanks for the insight!

Needle ice. Water from the soil is drawn upward when it reaches the cold air, it freezes instantly, adding to the growing ice column. More water continues to rise from below, freezing layer by layer and pushing the structure upward like this.

Makes sense.

Bizarre though.

I’ve seen something similar form on leaves too. Even more bizarre looking. Have always called it hoarfrost.

We don't even get frosts here so it all looks enchanting to me.

I'm also glad I don't have to deal with the complexities of extreme cold.

Sometimes.. frozen trees and limbs will just explode and sound like a gun shot. That’s something to witness.

Totally makes sense. We had our wettest fall in many years right before we got frost. Thanks for the insight!

Try stalking an animal when you have that to cross.

Trying is all you’ll be doing. 😂
