It's kind of hard to see in this picture but I'm making progress with my garden fence.

I'm using reclaimed field fencing that I got from a neighbor.

I plan to extend it to about 7ft and string hot wire around it. Hopefully it'll keep the deer and other critters out.

Also I need to make a nice door.

One of the few benefits of growing in town is the lack of animal pressure. We only have to keep rabbits out of our garden where we live.

Kangaroos are the equivalent to deer in Australia and they eat everything too 😉

A tip to help "train" deer to avoid your fence: fold a small sheet of aluminum foil over the hot wire to make a sort of flag hanging down from the wire. Apply peanut butter to the foil flag. Find someplace hidden to watch the action.

When a deer's shiny wet nose meets 5000 volts, the deer in question is very motivated to travel very far away from the source of the voltage, with much haste. This is also a lesson that they appear to remember quite well, and the ones who have been shocked tend to stay away.
