I'm about to buy a personal server / bitcoin node.
Is Umbrel still a thing, or better pay more and do it right with StartOS?

Of the two, StartOS is the most secure option. But you most probably rely on TOR to access it outside your local network. I’d go with that if TOR is not a concern for you.

Both UmbrelOS and StartOS are good reliable options.
Umbrel has more apps. Start9 is more bitcoin focused (and perhaps more secure).
