As an artist myself, my favorite part of TBS (other than the Rai Stones) is the Artistic Flourishing section in the Time Preference chapter; it resonated with me so much since I can create endlessly without ever getting bored, fed-up or expecting some sort of compensation. Kinda made me feel like I wasn't crazy for pursuing passions over income when everything/everyone in the rat race world was telling me to do the inverse. It made life extremely difficult & hardened me in a lot of ways. 🥹
I won in the end though because I have always turned my creative passions into multiple successful career paths; kinda like Howard Roarke in Any Rand's The Fountainhead (another fav book of mine). I always felt like an outsider that did not fit into society, but it was comforting to realize that it wasn't me that was broken; it was the society itself that was blinded & broken. 💁♂️
Those impulses you felt are an intentionally imposed/conditioned behavior. Like, what is the point of saving when your experiences tell you that you will get less later on? It's all by design to keep you on the treadmill, playing their sick/sadistic game. 🤬
