There used to be a channel called Hallmark whose productions felt like the televisionic realisation of the phrase "close but no cigar". I feel the same when I see that red N atop an item on Netflix.

Yes, you are totally right the medical model definition would be used-but if you are human experiencing this manifestation of absolute nihilism of thoughts feelings, actions and disassociation of soul self, desolation and abandonment of everything you relate to and that relates to you, doesn’t cut anywhere near does it? I do wonder if I had been brought up and socialised etc by the internet whether my experience of things would be different and from that, what is the emotional future going to look like for humans?
Is Annihilation dude Jeff VanderMeer? I really enjoyed his earlier stuff (like City Of Saints And Madmen) so I bought Annihilation and the others in that series when they came out but then I never read them because he called for Lovecraft to be cancelled and I vowed I'd never look at another VanderMeer book ever again.
