It seems that native English speakers generally don't learn other languages, but everyone else seems to, is this because English is kinda the default of the world at this point or it is something else?

I have noticed this as well. US school system doesn’t care to teach us for real anyway.

This doesn't matter. Many schools offer Spanish these days, but students don't practice and completely forget everything within 2 years.

I would like to add I am interested in learning other languages as a native English speaker but I do have to say the intensive doesn't seem to really be there mostly because it's so easy to default back to English where with basically everyone

There are pockets of the Internet segmented by language. Mastodon is a good example of that. Buy a dictionary, join the target language instance. Within a few weeks, you will make a lot of progress, and maybe make a friend a two.

US school system attempts to teach kids but typically they are lazy as fuck and coast thru school and never consider that 2nd language’s impact could be huge.

The core second language program in public schools is a joke. That money could be used better almost anywhere else. English is the language of business. Much of the rest of the world learns English because of this. There’s also geography to consider in North America until recently unless you’re near Quebec or in the southern states the majority of people’s first language was English.
