Bank runs have been happening since the 1500's. Seems so groundhog day that such a simple concept (fractional reserve) screws people over.
Got me thinking. What if this is the last round of bank runs? Could it be that bitcoin will solve this issue. In theory yes. But self custody won't likely be for everyone unless we get much better usability.
I then realised the issue might just well be with liability. We as humans in developed countries love to blame and hold people accountable. That's why we have insurance. In developing nations people just take responsibility and if things go bad then they accept it.
We are so far down the path of poor financial responsibility. Buy now, pay later. Buy this buy that. Buy it all on credit. Sadly but it seems inevitable to me that society needs that giant 'bank run' that will bring the majority of financially irresponsible humans to their knees
