The fish markets are unreal in Hawaii. Anyone know what this is that we had for dinner last night? #foodstr

Monstrous oyster?

Nope

Bearded clam?

Mollusk 😍

Steak

That's abalone. Asian delacacy. But I love it also. We used to dive for it all the time after working up a hunger surfing.

Specifically it looks like the new Zealand version Paua. Haliotis iris

Yessir. That sure looks like paua to me. Haliotis iris is the scientific name? Geeked out!! 🀘🀘

Paua or abalone

🎯

In dutch its called sea-ear no clue what it is in english

That looks magical!

Abalone?? Looks tasty🀀

Fresh abalone

Could be abalone depending on their actual size. They look big enough. Also Hilo farms abalone, they are generally smaller. Anyways enjoy the 🏝️

If a fish marketer make the customer say β€œunreal” feedback, we never know unless he/she gives the ingredients of the dish.

All they need is a shell and possibly a type of fish that becomes a mollusk when cooked or uncooked πŸ˜‚
