After struggling for a few days with my LND node on nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll while trying to connect it to nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm hub... I realise how early we still are.

In a few years it will all be plug-and-play. Just the same as your Internet router is just a box that's in your house and you forget about (except maybe when a guest needs the wifi password)... maybe with additional security features like a physical keyfob that you keep somewhere safe.

The company that gets there first will deserve to make a mint!

Start9, Casa, Umbrel, Alby and others are doing a great job simplifying UX... but there's still a lot of work to do!

I imagine it like a treasure box with a key.

5 minute setup:

1. Plug it into your starlink internet connection

2. Use key to display QR

3. Connect with phone app

4. Hide the key in a safe place

Phone app allows instant access to spending wallet (LN + ecash) and read-only access to savings wallet (optional/password protected). You need the physical key/backup to touch savings account.

Maybe there's multiple wallets for the family...

Needless to say normal people should not need to know anything about channel or liquidity management to use it. Much less have to know what gRPC or REST are...

Of course the problem with making it simple is that you have to trust the company providing the black box that is "keeping your money".

That's what open source software is for... and open source hardware I guess.

I imagine man-in-the-middle and supply chain attacks will be a big problem for the foreseeable future.

If they can blow up your pager, they can steal your coins.
