Ok I made a prediction about this already, so this event upgrades my prediction to "there will be an actual armed insurrection.... when the US presidential election happens." I'm sad that it came to this. The argument that Trump engaged in insurrection is laughable.

I counter-predict that people are too complacent and will simply roll over. But still, 😬

There are 333 million people in the US. Some subset of them will break with civility and lawful behavior for the sake of democracy. I don't know how many. I'm making my prediction based on the reasonableness of the position -- in 2020 the reasonableness of committing insurrection was pretty low -- sure the vote *might* have been rigged, but nobody has a smoking gun. But the reasonableness of committing insurrection when courts are claiming things that are factual nonsense and whose judgements directly deny democracy to the people is much higher. The moral case for defending your constitution is much stronger than in 2020.

I doubt US populations will break civility and lawful behavior over democracy. Scarcity on the other hand, yeah probably. Democracy might be the stated rationale though.

So far everybody that has cared to comment has disagreed with my prediction. Which will make it so much sweeter when I turn out to be right.
