I’m in a discord group who has a crypto chat and many of them have no idea what lightning or ecash is (99%) of them. A good few hold bitcoin but still have no idea of these other Bitcoin layers.

None of my normie friends have any idea bitcoin is over $100k. We are very early.

I finally got my cousin to buy bitcoin at 103k (small amount) after pleading them at 59k. So glad that they bought but they still don’t understand the why yet but hope they spend the time so they keep the bitcoin instead of selling it at $110k or so.

I question how into crypto they are if they don't know what Lightning is. Not knowing about eCash I can understand, but Lightning is a well-established L2 network. What are these people actually doing with their time?

Before nostr, I've heard of lightning but not of ecash. People don't know about it because it's not another "coin", like with other L2s.
Yea I definitely get ecash as well but lightning for a big discord room of 7k members is wild.
I get it though as it’s mostly a stock trading room but the crypto peeps in there as still like huh lighting?
But like you said before Nostr I had little clue about many things so I can’t judge too much. It’s just a lot of paying members there. But again it’s mainly a stock group.
