Much harm in lying though.
The doctor has a right not to get lied to and not to get coerced to ask invasive questions. If he wants to inform people about gun safety then let him send it electronically in some welcome package for all new patients.
It’s not medically relevant. I could say “it’s not relevant” or “I have the right not to answer” or “ yes, I do but I don’t see how that’s relevant” -all of those responses elevate the situation negatively against you.
Ask a uniformed, irrelevant question, and I’ll give you an answer. You can verify that answer if you’d like, but imo misinforming them of something they have no business in asking/knowing is different than being a liar.
