Peter Schiff limited edition?

Cool take on the Royal Oak aesthetic.

I’m on the Ball (the watch company that is the origin of that phrase). I had the tritium radioluminescent tubes replaced so it glows better in my dark reading room. Each minute marker glows blue with yellow for the hour numbers and green on the hands.

Genuinely curious. What’s the point of owning a watch in today’s day and age?

I personally never enjoyed wearing one and so never got into it. I need to hear someone else’s pov

Some of us don’t live on our phones (as I post this from my phone)

Haha agreed! I don’t either.

I also don’t usually feel the need to check the time.

When I do, I can look almost anywhere and find a clock.

Self expression like jewelry and I enjoy wearing a small machine on my wrist that not only tells time but also a story.

Hear ya!

Still trying to get comfortable wearing jewelry personally

Here’s why people get into collecting watches.

1. The Origin Story

Most collectors start with one meaningful watch—often linked to nostalgia, status, or personal identity—and quickly slide into collecting more.

2. The Thrill of the Hunt

The excitement often lies more in researching, chasing, and acquiring than in owning. Dopamine spikes in the anticipation phase.

3. The Hedonic Treadmill

What was supposed to be “the last watch” rarely is. We quickly adapt and crave the next thrill or variation.

4. Evolution of Taste

Collecting reflects personal growth. Tastes shift—from divers to chronographs to vintage—driven by curiosity and deeper knowledge.

5. Watches as Memory Capsules

Each piece holds stories, milestones, and emotional significance. Even wear and tear becomes meaningful.

6. Passion vs. Obsession

The line blurs—late-night searches, justifying near-duplicates—but that obsessive drive is often what fuels deep appreciation and community.

If I ever get into watches, this reply would have probably been the trigger. Thanks man

Also the artisanry. Time pieces are some of the most beautiful objects of craftsmanship out there. In one sense incredibly complex, in another, remarkably simple.

And there is the novelty of having a device that does a single task.

Where is the Casio F91W?

I like gshock especially this casioak but my favorite budget brand is Seiko 😁

I just use a Fitbit

Royal Broak 😂

Wearing this watch rn but without the mod 😂

The mod is fun people always think I’m wearing a super expensive watch until I show them

Casio = S tier.

Few.

Is it actual wood or plastic made to look like wood?

It’s metal

why do you still wear a watch?

Watches are dope. I feel naked without one on.

so as a fashion accessory as opposed to a time telling device? fair. they’re for sure cool tech but i just dont really need one. havent worn one for a decade. at this point id prob only run one for a special occasion

Well I do like to leave my phone behind as often as I can and enjoy the present moment. It feels nice to leave the house with a watch and some cash. Like it’s the 90’s again lol

thats a great call. no phone. just a watch and some cash. love it

Sounds like an excuse to walk around naked

My friend is a watchmaker and I’ve learned a lot from him. It’s amazing how long watches have been around, with very few fundamental changes to the way they work.

I’ll admit I don’t know much about computers or phones, but I enjoy having a piece of technology that I understand on my wrist.
