They can see who you talked to but can't see the messages

I dont think it's a good idea that everyone can access other people DMs 🤔
But they can't see the messages.

So it's not really private messages 🤔
I am confused. Private messages is about the content being private. People can almost always see who you are talking to.
I'm not a tech person at all 😅 but for me private messages are like on twitter or messenger where you can't see who people are talking to in private messages.
Maybe we are not talking about the same thing
Twitter employees can see all the content of your messages & which people you are talking to. In that sense, it is not private at all.
In Nostr, people can see the names of the people you are talking to but CANNOT see the contents of the message. Only the two persons in the conversation can see each other's content.
Any plans for nip24 private messages?
Personally I don't have a problem with it, but I think users should know that it's different from other social media on this point :)

It would be cool if we could attach an expiry time on private messages so they could trigger an automatic deletion by the relays. Not sure if it would be technically possible though.
You should make nip17 the standard before sending a message 😉
