you're not THAT old. doxx age?
I'm such an old "gray beard" and ready to croak. omg. 😆
You don't sound that old! 🫂🫂🫂 I would have guessed somewhere around my age, but then again I bought a 40 year old woman a shot for her "21st birthday" before. I am bad and gullible apparently 😂😭
actually shocking i came back from a graveyard of no code for a decade plus and here i am.... maybe i'm still ok enough lol
Super happy you came out of retirement to build on Nostr and Bitcoin 🥹
not gonna dox my age, cuz people get on the internet all at different times but fwiw, i sent my first email in 1993. 😂.
I completely understand 🫂🫂 That's about when I sent my first one too. It was AOL though.
ah haha AOL. somehow i managed to never use AOL. used yahoo for a while tho. i think my first exposure was to DEC unix boxes, irc, telnet and usenet tee hee. there was also a NeXT box, iirc, the precursor to modern OSX
I used IRC all through the 90s. I never honestly got into Usenet though.
❤️❤️
I still fuck around with IRC from time to time but it definitely has fallen off heavily in the last 5-10 years. Usenet does have its pockets of activity but it's definitely more of an older generational thing. Misc.survival and comp.misc were two places that at least last I checked had some decent activity if that's your thing. Most of Usenet is definitely a wasteland though, made harder to navigate because some of the groups still just get flooded with bots and literally nothing else.
Also spent a bit of time on the BBS message networks such ad Dovenet and Fidonet. Similarly older crowd. The charm of ANSI art on BBS's is something I'll always appreciate.
