I agree for most apps. But what about messengers like Signal and WhatsApp. I’m kinda glad Signal is a non-profit that can’t be sold to the highest bidder. Meanwhile WhatsApp’s meta data is now harvested by Facebook and Meta AI is integrated into the search bar for every user that can’t be turned off.

i love signal and it is an excellent example of a sustainable non profit open source project

whatsapp on the other hand should be considered spyware

that said, whatsapp has over 3 billion users while signal has around 70 million

The (relative) reduced adoption of Signal has more to do with campaigns associating it to criminal activities! Same as with #bitcoin ! People don’t want to get associated and don’t try to understand! Meanwhile most criminal activity is done through WhatsApp and Fiat !
