i don’t know if explicit suppression of trolls would work since the identification of such might be just as hard as it is for today’s providers. but there may be an answer somewhere in an open network

Who's a troll and who's just witty is a choice every individual should make for themselves.

Social networks should empower users to follow some and mute others, and Nostr does.

I've experimented with using LLMs to auto-moderate Nostr feeds, but the accuracy was mid and the result as arbitrary as X :(

This really is a job for a human.

I let people piggy-back on my moderation through my relay.

seems Paul just has a hard on for censorship and surveillance

Pointless effort. You can never suppress trolls. Who decides what is trolling? What actions will be taken against them?

Best thing is to not feed trolls. Works every time.

Kinda surprising to see PG take this stance. Or … maybe not surprising …

No surprising lol.

It's almost as if the mute and block features don't already exist.

What Paulie Potatoes wants is Mastadon/Bluesky. So why doesn't he go there? Because much like everything these chucklefucks do, it's 100% performative outrage. The post is a troll beacon so he can get them to blow up his feed and boost his Twatter welfare payment.

who is this and why does his opinion matter?

I just mute trolls and never think about them again.

I just unfollow people unless their content is very disturbing (racism, child stuff etc). I don't see the point of muting on nostr. If you don't follow someone they don't show up on your feed unless their note gets shared.

For the most part yes, but I do have a few more annoying trolls who comment on my posts with absolute garbage.

sry to hear that.

I have a large following and this tends to attract people who are starved for attention and have no life.
