I’m not moving the goal post. It both enabled more data to be written because of tapscript and made it cheaper to do so.

You are correct that arbitrary data has always been able to be written to the chain. However, taproot enabled both the extent at which it is being done. And the incentives to do so.

Are you saying you would rather have someone write a 4mb JPEG to the chain and leave you out of transacting?

How many blocks would need to be filled with JPEGS for you to move to another blockchain for your transaction?

I am a miner, sir. Enforcing what's in blocks is not up to you if you don't mine, pro or against jpegs (I don't JPEG, Fwiw. It's dumb).

Also, consensus valid with fees is fine by me.

But by mining, I don't have to move blockchains. I am the chain tip creator.

I can’t argue that, and I’m not, I mine too.

Consensus is consensus , speedy trial is speedy trial.

In 2021 I watched this site light up and saw miners signaling one by one, all for the sake of “more fees is better” https://taproot.watch
