Over a friendly Thanksgiving game of Phase 10 I was lamenting needing to purchase a deck having lost mine long ago.

Tonight the youngling and I were going to play Skip-Bo before dinner and we discovered that our TWO decks were both incomplete. I was going to combine them to make up the missing cards but then realized that they don't have the same backs. Hopes dashed again.

I remembered I had a Yahtzee box tucked away among our games that had been my grandmother's that I inherited. She kept all of her card games in this box so I also got her Uno deck that she and I played loooong into the night. I knew there were SOME Skip-Bo cards in the box and figured, what the heck maybe they'll match.

Well, they did, but I didn't need to add them to mine because it is a full deck. As I was closing up the box, I spotted some familiar words...Phase 10.

Thanks, Mama Olenia. I sure miss you.

All the smart kids played Phase 10 with their grandma.

You can play Spite and Malice using two decks of normal playing cards. Pretty much the same game as Skip-Bo. Personally, I prefer it.
