You could also call for the time and date, sometimes even the weather.

stoppp this is a meme right?

No seriousness

Absolute truth. This happened in the 90s before the Internet.

We didn’t even have 911 yet. You had to KNOW the phone number of the local fire department or call the operator to connect you in an emergency.

Facts. God,,, how did we survive?

Many didn’t. It was a wild time.

Parents didn’t know where their kids were, like ever. If you were out late you had to call your parents at home and let them know where you were or there would be trouble…!

That’s were meme comes from, cause it’s real

Doesn’t feel real 🤣💜

Not a meme. The reality of my childhood. 😂 moviefone and checking the movie times in the newspaper.

This sounds so crazy to me, I was born in 99 😂💜

To be honest, it was awesome. Meeting friends was an adventure every time. You’d call (on the landline) decide when and where to meet, and then venture out into the world with no means of communication until you returned home, unless you count the odd pay phone (which you never had change for anyway).

Sounds amazing honestly, I didn’t have a phone before 1st grade, and that’s what I can really compare it to 🤷‍♂️💜

1st grade?! 🤣🤣 I can’t relate

hahahahaha stoppp

Kids these days 😂

Hahahahaha 😂💜

Omg… Kids.

The movie.

Nope not today 💀

My son saw a pay phone on a street for the 1st time a few months ago and was super excited for me to show him how to use it, unbelievable 🤣

🤣🤣 did you troll him with a fake walkthrough of how it works?

Got him to call my mobile from it 🤣

Man, that was a movie.

So true

WAIT WHAT????

Movie times were in the newspaper or you would call that number 😂

Remember TV Guide? How else would you know what was on your four channels?
