If I want to show the app to friends or family that aren’t privacy focused or bitcoiners, do you think it has all the functionality they would normally use in a regular messenger ? And is it reliable ?

I use Simplex, too, but it's hit-n-miss.
That’s why I uninstalled it. I was never sure if my recipient actually got the message.
Do you know if you send a link (pointing to an image), like if I copy the url from an image on nostr and send it via threema, does it render the image or does it just show the link ?
I think, just the link. Not sure.
I use threema as well and have been very happy with its reliability. I think it would be great for anyone. I haven’t used simplex in a couple months. I never couldn’t that a message had been received.
I remember talking about it with you a couple of months back. What’s the point of a messenger if you don’t get the messages reliably 🤷🏾
