right now blocked users shows up as "post from blocked user". I was just referring to remove this all together. This is not censorship and no censorship is not possible because damus doesn't control or have the ability to moderate the relays it connects to.

It just would hide events from blocked users like it does in every other part of the app. You wouldn't see the "post from a blocked user" anymore.
On Nostr you have complete control over your property and how you want to use and interact with the protocol, but by design there is no way to censor another person and control someone else’s property and how they use the protocol to post notes or read other’s notes.
That is how I understand it. Very new here. But the post from Will seemed to imply there was a way to remove something all together. That is what I was interested in. You seem to say that isn’t possible. I don’t know.

Good idea, people block for a reason. Censorship is by governments, institutions or controlling bodies, not individuals.

I agree. Unless the individual can control what others see. Then it is censorship. If they filter what they see, that is a good thing. The only exception is a parent filtering what their kids are.
Individuals for themselves :) I would say a relay that filters content is censoring already in the scope of the relay, but not in the scope of nostr.
I would be happy to censor people like this from my relay. Relays are free to censor whoever they want. He is free to post on any other relay that is fine with his rape threats. Hope the fbi sets one up just for people like him!

Damus is not Nostr. It’s just a client, what do you wan’t Will to do, implement a blocklist into the app for specific users? Filter for words? You basically want him to create a client that censors the content from Nostr, which defies the purpose of a decentralized and censorship-resistant network. You have a block button, that’s all you can do, and report him to the authorities.
What does report do? Report to who? And blocking won’t suffice if bots can create new accounts and post repeatedly. So yes. I would love Will to add tools to the client.
Ignoring these types is truly the best way to get rid of them. Does a troll exist if no one can hear it?

I’ve been using nostr less and less the past week due to them. They also specifically go after the women on nostr as well.

Nostr is a protocol, I don’t know what you mean with ‘doing something’. You can use relays and clients that censor for you, but then you are in your walled garden and can’t interact with the rest of the network. Will can and probably has removed that guy from his relay already, but there are other relays in damus that he doesn’t control. You can disconnect from those.
