The LightingTipBot is really the Bitcoin/Nostr onboarding way:

1) Join the bot https://t.me/LightningTipBot to immediately obtain a (custodial) LN wallet with a LN that match your username (xxx@ln.tips) and an anonymous one useful if you don't want dox yourself; put it in you Nostr profile.

2) Use the "/nostr add" command to link your pubkey and start to register the zaps attached to every post; the bot also notifies every zap with the sender message.

3) Use the "/link" command to get the private lndhub URL; with this you can configure Alby (browser extension) and Bluewallet (Android/IOS/macOS) to have a unique wallet across all devices for an integrated experience.

4) Zap and receive zaps ⚑ and start to think the bitcoin v4v way; if you are a creator you have huge opportunities.

5) Bonus point: tip friends on Telegram and propose them to embrace Bitcoin/Nostr.

Objections:

Why use a Telegram bot instead of go all-in with Nostr?

Simply because a similar bot doesn't still exist for Nostr, even if I'm quite sure #[0] is working on something πŸ‘€

Then Telegram attracts people that already realize that there are a lot of possibilities, and quality ones, outside the small fake-golden Meta garden, so it is a perfect place to onboard new aware users.

Plus the bot and lndhub are open source.

Why a custodial wallet?

Today custodial LN is quite hard to start, we have great projects like OBW and Blixt that already permit it, but it's an harder step for a newcomer. To experience the coffee-zapb magic a custodial solution is reasonable. Don't let the perfection kill the excellency.

Shout-out to #[1] to have built it! πŸ™Œβš‘

Why not WoS if custodial. No account required.

For me WoS has the limit to not be usable on desktop.

Than I prefer to support open source projects and Calle ones are exceptional.

Choose what you feel better :)

Yeah valid point.

Great write up, I would add, onboarding to nostr is not trivial, showing someone zaps is a cool feature, if they already have cash app installed they have a way to procure bitcoin, and if they already have telegram installed they have a way to receive proper zaps. I also hate non fin-apps with built in wallets, specially autogenerated, it feels forced upon the user even if it’s entirely in good faith and no different than any separate custodial wallet. The thing a new person should ponder is nostr, there are plenty of opportunities to deep dive and naturally pick up self custody through being here.
