I have no respect for dudes who can’t mindfully, actively care about women’s issues.

I have been violently assaulted, brutally betrayed, had my livelihood threatened, consistently harassed, I can’t leave my home without making preparations to be sure that I’m not assaulted again, I have to teach my daughter how to avoid being assaulted, I am the shoulder to cry on for my friends when they are assaulted… and yet, through all of that I make a point of consciously, consistently, actively caring about the lives of men, and the issues that effect them.

I do this, actively, consciously, because it is the only honorable thing do to. It is the only respectable thing to do, to actively care for others, to actively care for those whose pain and experiences are different from your own, despite your scars.

If I am capable of managing it, they are too.

thank you for putting a voice to this and sharing your experiences. i'm so sorry that you and many other women have had these things done to you...

you are extremely resilient and this serves as a reminder of the burdens women carry while still advocating for others. it takes incredible strength and courage.

we all need to strive for that level of empathy and understanding.
