To be fair, you won't hear about it from me!

Not as concerned about opsec over 1000 sats, but 100M...

You wouldn't hear about that one from me...

My greatest haul so far was 100% back on a $30 meal back in 2022.

I don't remember the bitcoin price at the time, and am unsure if I have a screenshot (at least not easily available), so I don't remember the exact number of sats back.

Best part was, it was a terrible meal that I regretted paying for, and the universe opted to reimburse me.

Mine was receiving the largest winnings in a meme war here in Nostr & since then I’ve been hooked.

My biggest regret was not stacking sats during the bear market as I thought I was in the red with bleeding losses in my hodlings fomo’ing into bitcoin when it was valued at 60k in 2021. I had no idea how all of this worked & the economics behind bitcoin. This was before I spent the last few years studying bitcoin while I was in graduate school.

That's a regret I am grateful to have avoided.

I too FOMO'd in with all my savings around 60k, but after being convinced that we were on our way to 300k, I was thrilled to see the price fall into 2022.

I'm actually working on an article that breifly covers my experience during this period. Here's an excerpt:

"Perhaps I should have learned my lesson about what happens to the men who stare at charts by November 2022. But for better or worse, I couldn’t help but look at where we were in the cycle and think that we must be near the bottom of the bear market. While I couldn’t predict whether we might fall another 10-50%, I held an unwavering belief that we’d likely be higher within a year.

Part of this conviction came from the incredible amount of development I was witnessing in the Bitcoin ecosystem. Despite the bearish sentiment and the silence of once-vocal Bitcoin Twitter accounts, the progress being made was undeniable. Teams were tackling Bitcoin custody, building out Layer 2 solutions, and publishing research papers on mining innovations like methane mitigation and district heating. These advancements highlighted Bitcoin’s world-changing potential and only reinforced my confidence.

As my conviction grew, so did my frustration with the limitations of my current stacking rate. Despite stacking sats at the cheapest prices I'd seen since adopting Bitcoin, I felt a deepening sense of FOMO. No matter how much I reduced my expenses to redirect income to buying bitcoin, the pace of accumulation felt agonizingly slow in comparison to the opportunity I believed was slipping away. The belief that my dollars would soon buy fewer sats drove me to explore ways to accelerate my accumulation. It was a question of timing, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I needed to act."

I'm thrilled that you took the time to dig into Bitcoin and build your conviction!

This was… an excellent read that rings VERY close to home with how I felt in the aftermath of the bear market with Bitcoin rising steadily past the ATH and my FOMO grew with it. We probably will never see Bitcoin take a 70% correction below 50k again (or maybe even 80k depending on how next year looks) but if it does, I’ll be ready to catch those dips.

Thank you for sharing with me your experience & the preview of your excerpt. I’ll be on the lookout for your article & will happily share it with the people I’m slowly orange-pilling who may feel the same as we did years ago.

Thank you! I'm glad you could relate.

This probably won't be the article for newbies, as it's titled "Play Fiat Games, Win Bitcoin Prizes" and is a piece about the strategies I've taken to leverage fiat credit with the aim of accumulating more bitcoin. VERY MUCH NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE. 😂

I do have several other articles on my website that may be more applicable, but ultimately we all arrive at Bitcoin on different paths, so one person's journey may not help another to see the light.

I’ll give it a read, determine if it’s a good stepping stone for them considering I’m like their “Uncle Jim” and let you know how it goes. You rock, bitcoinpup!

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones 🫂🎄🎁⚡️

You as well! 🎄 🦴 💜

HOLY SMOKES. Just finished reading your 1st article (Paw Prints to the Timechain) and I now have nothing but mad deep respect for you. This part of your article struck me like lightning:

“This journey hasn’t just been about investing; it’s been about unlearning old beliefs and adopting new ones.”

Your newfound, serious commitment to getting and staying #OnZero is what I strive for as soon as I start making money in the fiat world (after I receive complete my national licensure exam) using #strike & #fold.

I’m glad I came across your unique, yet sincere voice here on nostr to learn more about what it takes to be self-sovereign on an economic level and move away from the fiat-minded philosophy that was drilled into our psyche since childhood.

Now onto the next article!

Thank you! I'm glad you found value in it.

It was my hope that in outlining my long and tumultuous journey to finding Bitcoin it might help save others some time in doing the same.

In addition to just wanting to get the story written down before too much time passed and I began to forget some of the details.

I think you'll really enjoy Maslow's Apex...

I sent your article to my dad & so far, we’re blown away with how profound, yet relatable it is for us.

To be quite honest, it was a stimulating read for me on the road to a Christmas family get-together. Though I may have to go back and reread to gather some more self-reflection & introspection of my personal values and build onto my financial philosophy. These are the words that touched me on a deeper, philosophical level:

“More likely, you'll buy that car and keep working the same job you hate to pay for its upkeep. You'll keep eating junk food. You'll continue to argue with your partner, and the stress... It won't go away.”

“You'll still struggle to juggle your rent or mortgage payment with increasing food and energy prices. You'll still fight to get a raise each year at work, while inflation marches on unchallenged. You'll still have your savings devalued every time those in government decides the economy needs more money in it...”

“For the first time in my life, I had an incentive to stop consuming as much as possible in the present. I'd adopted a monetary standard that would preserve my purchasing power over time and realized that my excess capital was worth more to future me than it was to present me. So I cut back on needless consumption and saved.”

“You don't have to continue working within a broken system that, by its very design, robs and steals your saved value. As for me, I chose Bitcoin.”

“This realization that my bitcoin-denominated income would only trend down over time, as the value of my savings grew, was freeing. So I left my job that I hated, (a job that I began to realize I was only performing out of fear of falling behind inflation), and got a new job that was more aligned with who I wanted my future self to be.”

Powerful.

You've highlighted some of my favorite parts of the article, highlighting the mental transformation that takes place as one understands Bitcoin, gains conviction and hope.

It's the joy of freedom as you emerge from nihilism, able to dream of a brighter future. To dream of not just where you will be, but who you can become.

I'm always open to feedback and would love to hear any questions or comments you may have about the content.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful time together. Happy Holidays, made even happier with sound money.

One tip that may come in handy if we get another prolonged bear market:

If you stack hard enough, you'll never be in the red.
