Just notified a contractor that the porch rails need to be properly installed by 5:00 p.m. June 23, 2023 or I will be at the courthouse at 9:00 a.m. June 26, 2023. It's been since 24 Feb 23 that I gave him a deposit, more than 40% of his estimate, to install railing on my front porch. Why so much? Because for many years he's done great work for us. Now, every update on the status has been a result of my questioning why it isn't done. I've had enough. I have other projects that need done.

From anecdotes of others in my area (landscaping, cement patio installation, seasonal pool maintenance) That seems to be going around a lot. My hunch is labor related, but it’s the squeaky wheel that gets the grease.

I've been squeaking since April. I even asked for my money back in cash, and he responded with "It will be done by Friday." Don't have the labor, don't take the job. If you had the labor and they left, let someone know what's going on. But, at some point you are either going to do it or not. Four months for 10'x32'' front porch rails....?

No disagreement from me.

Yep, I dont know why people like that even stay in business.
