Japanese new years is like Christmas in western countries. Get seven days off, family comes to the house, go to the temple for a blessing & charm, money gifts are given to the kids, games are played, kites are flown, tops are spun, mochi & osechi are eaten, special drinks are drunk, and the 1500 piece zodiac puzzle is assembled.

Wow 😯 Is Japanese New Year now or based on a lunar calendar?

It is now! The Chinese are still on the lunar calendar.

Happy New Year! Japanese New Year sounds fun and exciting. I’d love to experience it sometime.

良いお年を!
