You *dont* send yout kids to work in the coal mines, as society became rich, people sent their kids to school instead, laws about child labor didnt come for decades after kids left the workforce.

Things like minimum wage, child labor laws, and rent control have all been proven as total bullshit, and its intellectually dishonest to use them in your arguements.
